What feminism really is…

What feminism isI am a feminist and am so proud of it ๐Ÿ˜‰ But with so many negative connotations around it- what does it really mean? And as Christians are we even allowed to be feminists?

Let’s start on a different track- here’s what feminism is not.

Feminism is not beating other women with a stick or competing to show who’s better.

Feminism is not viewing the male gender as inferior to women. That everything they can do we can do better.

Feminism is not trying to be one’s own authority and trying to overpowering God.

Here what feminism is…
True feminism is fighting for women’s rights ๐Ÿ˜‰

To help other women achieve their dreams

Where women shouldn’t be judged any less than a man when they take time off to be a mother.

It’s advocating for women and girls to have the same opportunities as males in the country- whether in work, education and life in general. Without being belittled for being a female.

It’s being able to stand on your own two feet with God by your side. Cause I honestly refuse to believe that life begins when you meet you future life partner.

But it’s not about berating the male population either. [In fact all my life, most of my good friends have been guys!] And my guy best friend is a feminist too ๐Ÿ˜‰

Feminism in essence is about empowering women to have the confidence to do anything in life without believing the naysayers [telling you can’t because you’re a woman or you need a man to fix your life problems- that’s a blog post for another day!]

Whether it’s pursuing a career in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (yep I had to throw STEM in there), moving out on your own to travelling solo- feminism is about creating a future for girls.

It’s turning the mindset of no I couldn’t possibly can. To yes I most definitely can in God’s strength!

That’s what true feminism is. And I’m proud to be one ๐Ÿ˜‰
